At Rachel, sustainability is the heart of our business. While we recognize the environmental perils of the fashion industry, it is Rachel’s mission to be part of the solution to reduce the impact of fashion on the environment. Our first steps towards a more sustainable business started in Fall 2019 with the first release from our eco collection. To date, our eco collection comprises close to 10 items including our hallmark bestselling tights and new eco basics like shorts, while we aim to grow the collection to close to 50 products by the end of 2020.

We are also furthering our commitment to sustainability with the goal to reduce our carbon footprint and water consumption. Our objectives include:

  • Eradicating virgin plastics from our supply chain
  • Introducing 100% compostable packaging by December 2020
  • Introducing 100% Eco friendly products by September 2021
  • Obtaining our B Corp certification

    What is the eco collection?

Items in our eco collection are currently made from Q-NOVA Nylon, which is obtained from waste materials that come directly from our suppliers production cycle. The eco collection includes our hallmark bestselling tights and new eco basics like shorts and more, coming soon!

Why is Q-NOVA Nylon better for the environment?

Nylon is an an oil product, which releases harmful gases during production. By utilizing waste materials to create Q-NOVA Nylon, we’re able to reduce the overall use of crude oil necessary to make our products!

What percentage is there  of recycled materials?

Good question - 99% of Q-NOVA fibre comes from recycled materials.

    So what’s the bottom line?

Here are the facts: Q-NOVA slashes CO2 emissions by 80% and cuts down on water use by 90% when compared to usual nylon production.

    What’s coming next?

By the end of December 2020, our eco collection will have 47 products. It is our mission to continue to innovate in the fashion industry, which is why we will be introducing new sustainable materials in the next year including a biodegradable fiber and a new yarn made from castor oil. Now is the time to feel good about looking good!
