A menswear-inspired look is one of my favourite looks for this time of year. It's edgy and embraces a darker colour palette that’s perfect for Fall.
If you're looking to stand out from the crowd and bend social norms, this style is definitely for you. If not, it's still a cool way to change up your style and a fun alternative to your everyday dress.
When dabbling in menswear-inspired outfits, it's important to remember that fit is everything. You don't want to look sloppy, even if your outfit is a tad oversized, so it's important to have just the right fit.
Here are 4 pieces to try to conquer the menswear-inspired look this Fall!
Tweed or plaid blazer
When shopping for a blazer, think university professor and opt for patch sleeve detailing and tweed/plaid for a more masculine touch. It needs to fit big enough so that it almost looks like you're wearing a men's jacket, but it should still be nipped and tucked at the waist to fit you properly. Roll the sleeves up if you have a petite figure, so it doesn’t overwhelm your look.
Oxfords for the win
I've been obsessed with oxford shoes since they first came back into style and I'm hoping to hang on to this trend for as long as possible. Let's face it, they're cute but also super comfy and what girl doesn't want to have the best of both worlds? Since they look like a men's dress shoe, they're the perfect option for this trend. Try an oxford with a heel to add a hint of femininity to your outfit.
Band tee for some fun
A band tee is not only a fun addition to your outfit, but it's also very much borrowed from the boys and pairs well with a dressy blazer. I'm all about pairing opposites together because the old saying is true; opposites really do attract. The red detailing in my shirt also adds a fun pop of colour that you can play off of with your accessories as I did with my matching red beret.
Sporty striped tights
To finish off your menswear look, try these Triple Striped Tights to give off a sporty vibe and add the perfect finishing touch to your masculine style. You could also try your hand at pairing opposites together again and add in a super feminine pair of tights like the Bow Back Seam Tights.
