Did you rip your favourite pair of tights? It happens to the best of us! The good news is you can give them a second life and turn them into a practical object.
Thanks to a little DIY project you can transform your tights into a chic headband, a great accessory to have on hand for the summer. Tights are perfect to create a headband with because they’re stretchy and bounce back to help keep your hair in place.
All you need to embark on this DIY project is a pair of tights and some supplies. What’s more, it will take you less than 20 minutes to complete.
Here's how to recycle your ripped tights and turn them into a chic headband!
- A pair of tights
- Needle and thread (optional)
Step 1: Place your tights flat on a table and separate both legs by cutting below the waistline. After, cut the toe section off of your tights (on each leg), so you have 2 pieces of nylon cut in a straight line.
Step 2: Fold each piece edge to edge so that your tights are folded in half lengthwise.
Step 3: Next, fold your tights to form a cross. Then fold them again to get the same result as in the picture.
Step 4: Tie a knot with each end so you can close your headband around your head. If you want your headband to be even stronger you can also sew each end with a needle and thread.
And there you have it! Thanks to your old tights you now have a trendy accessory for your hair this summer.
