When it’s time to update your home on a budget, there are tons of easy and affordable decor projects you can take on. I love playing with the home accessories on my shelves, TV stand and even in the bathroom, which always includes lots of candles.
With a little DIY project you can reuse your snagged tights and turn them into candle sweaters. Candle sweaters are a must do DIY craft for you to spruce up your living space with a fun item that’s also practical.
All you need to embark on this DIY is a pair of tights and some supplies. What’s more, it will take you less than 10 minutes to complete.
Here's how to recycle your ripped tights and turn them into candle sweaters!
- A pair of tights
- Hot glue gun & glue stick
- Candle jar
- ruler or measuring tape
- string (optional)
Step 1: Measure the height of your candle jar and add 1 inch to that measurement. Place your tights flat on a table and cut your tights in the calf or thigh area into the right size. Next, insert the candle jar into the tights.
Step 2: Hot glue around the outer edge of the top of the candle jar and press down the tights as smoothly as possible. Repeat this step for the bottom of the candle jar making sure to pull down the tights.
Step 3: Tie a piece of string in a bow to the top of the jar and glue it in place., and voila!
- Use tights in bright colours or with funky prints to create a unique candle sweater.
- Add string to switch up the look of your designs.
- Use the rest of your tights for a mug, other candles or a flower vase. Or try any of our other DIYs!
